Years ago, when I was 12, I prepared my wardrobe to embark on a junior high experience. I wasn’t nervous because I had it all planned out. I had my mom find a seamstress to make me bell-bottom jeans because I hated straight legs. I learned how to let my curls shape themselves, and I grew very fond of happy faces, hearts and tie-dye. So boy, did I have it coming.
