Exclusive New Picture of Napping TTC Collector Revealed

When a TTC collector’s snapped nap at McCowan Station made news at the end of January (reported on by Torontoist first, by the way), it helped precipitate the usual pre-spring TTC hate-on, which a fare hike didn’t help. People really freaked out, and then, oh how they laughed.
The outrage was not without its victims, however. This helpful-seeming feminized icon at Osgoode Station was mercilessly mocked via marker (above), made to apparently doze off mid–ticket distribution. Madison Cawker took the photo at the end of February, and today posted it to the Toronto LiveJournal community, where it led to giggles from people who should be totally ashamed, since not one of them checked to make sure the pictured collector wasn’t unconscious.
Fortunately, there’s soon to be a real, non-digital and non-destructive outlet for TTC grumbliness: a series of town halls with TTC riders and workers, the first of which is moderated by John Tory and takes place this Sunday. (Torontoist will report from at least one of them.) Leave the markers at home, though; the real-life TTC employees have been through enough.
