Book Marks: The Cookbook Store
Food, like fashion, sees trends come and go. The 1980s brought concern about cholesterol and the microwave; the 1990s brought fad diets; today, it’s all about eating organically. Access to unusual ingredients has drastically expanded. Dietary restrictions are constantly changing. New allergies have emerged. And the Cookbook Store, which opened in 1983 in the heart of Yorkville, has seen it all. Now a Toronto gastronomic community staple, the Cookbook Store offers a little bit of everything. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they’re happy to help out everyone, from the most experienced of chefs to the newest of cooks. In short, it’s a food lovers’ book paradise.
