[Your usual Urban Planner, Vicky Peters, was one of those affected by Thursday and Friday’s blackout, so we’re pleased to welcome alumnus Robin Hatch to the fold for today’s article.—Ed.]

PARTY: Toronto promoter Paul Gagnon’s popular Yo Jamz! series returns tonight with another installment of their popular dance night, Yo! Remember the ’90s? PETS: After receiving the adorable press release sent to us by the folks at Cosmopawlitan Pet Boutique + Spa (wherein Torontoist’s own tiny paws received a shout-out), we couldn’t resist mentioning their dog adoption event happening today and tomorrow. Tiny Paws Dog Rescue, a Canadian charitable organization that helps save, foster, and re-home small (<20 lbs) dogs, is co-hosting this Rescue Weekend. Check out available puppies’ profiles and more information on the adoption process. Cosmopawlitan Pet Boutique + Spa (478 Queens Quay West), 10 a.m.–5 p.m., FREE.
DANCE: The AKA Dance Company is throwing a cabaret night at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts. The event will feature performances by Second City alumnus Anand Rajaram, jazz pianist Suzana Da Câmara, Balinese dancer Keiko Ninomiya, aerial performance artist Brandy Leary, and infectious-groove beatmaster DJ Gerald Belanger. Chef Tamio Ninomiya of Shinobu Sushi will cater the event. Proceeds will benefit White Moon Dance Nights, a dance celebration of Canada and Japan, which will run at the Young Centre from February 25–28. Young Centre For The Performing Arts (55 Mill Street, Building 49), 7 p.m., $10.
