ART: Creature illustrator and Rue Morgue art director Gary Pullin is exhibiting his work for the first time ever. “I Remember Halloween: The Art of Ghoulish Gary Pullin” opens tonight with chilling Rue Morgue fanfare. The launch includes morbid music by DJ Tomb Dragomir and DJ Shannon, a foul feast of classic horror trailers, and sordid giveaways. The Gladstone Hotel (1214 Queen Street West), 8 p.m., $10.
MUSIC: The delectable band from Montreal known as The Golden Hands Before God Conducts Incredible Magic Band and the Spirits will be playing at Rancho Relaxo this evening. See them in a small club while you still can. Seriously. Joining The Golden Hands Before God on the bill are Toronto punk rock power duo The Speaking Tongues and Toronto raw power trio Terror Lake. If that gives the impression we are promising a night of God-like power, you are getting the picture. Rancho Relaxo (300 College Street), 10 p.m., $7.
MUSIC: The people at Wavelength are turning the stage over to the audience for this year’s Karaoke for Kans Christmas party. They’ve invited Carson T. Foster to bring his one-of-a-kind Kickass Karaoke to Sneaky Dee’s for the night. The playlist is astounding. The beer is cheap. Three cans of non-perishable food get you in the door. Sneaky Dee’s (431 College Street), 9 p.m., pay-what-you-can.
RECREATION: It’s Degrassi night at Harbourfront’s Natrel ice rink, thanks to the SK8 Culture program. Studio Theatre gets in the game early by screening select episodes of three different Degrassi series (5–8 p.m.). For the main event, cast members from Degrassi: The Next Generation are playing DJ for everyone on the ice. They may or may not take part in the skating, but they will definitely be giving away Degrassi swag. Harbourfront Centre (235 Queens Quay West), 8 p.m., FREE.
MUSIC: It’s been a few years since Rocket From the Crypt fired its last cannon, but frontman Speedo has formed a new band—with former Hot Snakes band members—called Night Marchers. They are blasting their way through Toronto at Lee’s Palace tonight with their new Canadian bass player, son-of-a-witch Tommy Kitsos. Ex-Deadly Snakes members Quest For Fire open the show. Lee’s Palace (529 Bloor Street West), 10 p.m., $12.50.
