ART: In case you didn’t know (but how could you not?), Nuit Blanche returns tonight! Torontoist’s guide is here. Various locations, 6:52 p.m.–7 a.m., FREE.
BENEFIT: Today, participants in the 2008 Sunshine Walk will depart from Queen’s Park on their sixteen day journey from Toronto to Ottawa. The walk is presented by the Toronto Climate Campaign to support solar energy awareness, and ends at Parliament Hill on October 20, when walkers will present the government with a slough of pictures and letters providing green solutions. If you’re interested in joining up for just a few minutes, or even a few hours, check out the Sunshine Walk’s travel itinerary. Queen’s Park, 12 p.m. (with walkers departing at 1 p.m.), FREE.
PARTY: Tonight at the New Era flagship store, join Mindzai.com and Urbanebloc.com for a smörgåsbord of fashion, music, and art. “The Peek” will include a live performance from punk rock group The Eatons, a short film screening from Lesley Loksi Chan, and a presentation of Adrienne Butikofer‘s new clothing collection. New Era (202 Queen Street West), 6:30 p.m., FREE.
WORKSHOP: Actor Randy Pearlstein (of Chappelle’s Show) is holding a workshop in association with Film Lab for the next two days. Pearlstein has presented similar workshops twice to the Directors Guild of America. Today’s workshop focuses on screenwriting for comedies, dramas, and thrillers; tomorrow’s explores writing for sitcom, drama, and sketch television. Ryerson International Living/Learning Centre (240 Jarvis Street), 10 a.m.–4 p.m., $145 for one day, $225 for the weekend.
