Making a Connection? Make It Hot

2008_annie2.jpgOvercast skies and underwhelming temperatures have us mourning a premature end to a summer that barely got started. Where are the dog days of August? The humid patio evenings? Like, why are we wearing sweaters to Sweaty’s?
Believe it or not, though, there are places colder than Canada right now. For example, Norway. The frigid little nation has graciously sent us their brightest blonde, synth-pop singer and sometime DJ Annie, to cheer our chilly nights—well, tonight at least.
The Anniemal will be hitting the decks at The Social this eve, along with local electro-house partiers VND/LSM. It’s a spin set, not a performance, but cross your fingers and she just might pull out a few of her happy-making hits. From 2004’s “Heartbeat” to this year’s “I Know Your Girlfriend Hates Me,” no one sings summer better… even if it is fifteen degrees and drizzling.
All this party without a cause? Not exactly. Tonight’s beats are brought to you by Samsung, Koodo, and that viral marketing campaign we wrote about earlier this month, Guests get unique ID code badges, allowing them to text lines of the “nice shoes…” variety to babes across the bar (without revealing their cellular digits, of course). Messages will also display on screens around The Social, making for (we hope) some totally uncomfortable eye contact.
Doors are at 9 p.m. To get in—free!—register at and click RSVP.
