Elsewhere in the Ist-a-Verse
Torontoist is one of thirteen cities in the worldwide Gothamist network. Each Sunday, the editors of every site—from LAist to Londonist—choose their most interesting article, a list which is compiled into the network-wide feature Elsewhere In The Ist-A-Verse.

- Gothamist is fine with opening doors to air-conditioned stores—but the New York City Council passed a bill that will fine stores if they keep their doors open while they are using air-conditioning.
- Despite an eventful week at the Olympics, Phillyist focused on local, Philadelphia teams.
- Seattlest, freshly aware of their “Junior High Readability Level,” implemented a new weekly feature spotlighting a local they’re totes crushing on. First up, a guy they met at the Seattle Tattoo Expo.
- LAist reported on a protest by bicyclists in Santa Monica who were sick of being harassed by police. What they did was halt traffic for blocks legally.
- Shanghaiist was not amused by the “slanty-eyed Chinese” poses of the Spanish basketball and tennis teams.
- Londonist revelled in the city’s silly signage.
- Chicagoist discussed a local graffiti mural and cranky neighbors’ responses to it.
- DCist was both horrified and excited by the news that Lifetime had picked up a new reality TV show set inside the privileged Georgetown socialite scene.
- SFist reported on local blogger/photog Thomas Hawk’s physical ejection from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, which stirred a heated debate about the rights of photographers.
- Bostonist saw Kelly
Clarkson at Fenway Park and wondered when she started looking like
Rachael Ray.
