Urban Planner: July 26, 2008

20080726urbanplanner.jpgMUSIC: Before their performance tomorrow night at Sneaky Dee’s, critically-acclaimed group Colourbook will be playing a show as part of Ryan McLaren’s ALL CAPS concert series. Also on the bill are Cobras Cobras Cobras and Brides. Whippersnapper Gallery (587A College Street), 6:30 p.m., $6.
DANCE: Join DJ Thundersword at Baby Huey for a night of classic folk rock, indie rock hits, and $3.50 pints of Pabst Blue Ribbon. Perfect for warming up before some serious bar-hopping, or for chilling out when trying to avoid zealous Queen West clubbers. Baby Huey (70 Ossington Avenue), 11 p.m., FREE.
SALE: Love vintage but hate the prices? Local resale store UpsideDive is having another vintage sale until 5 p.m. today. Clothing, shoes, bags, jewelry, and decor accessories will all be available, as will iced tea and chilled coffee. BYOB (bring your own bag). UpsideDive, 10 a.m., FREE.
FESTIVAL: The second annual Youth Day happens today in Nathan Phillips Square. Last year’s inaugural event attracted upwards of 5,000 visitors, and hopes to attract even more this year. The outdoor celebration features youth talent in music, art, photography, and dance. Other attractions include artisan booths, an electric bike exhibit, and a stand selling funnel cakes. That’s right, funnel cakes! You don’t even have to go all the way to Canada’s Wonderland! Nathan Phillips Square (100 Queen Street West), 12:00 p.m., FREE.
