Reflections, Projections, and Lights
Showcasing reflections and refractions, shadows and sunrays, there’s a party this Thursday to celebrate light and darkness in all of its forms. Windows to Mirrors is the release party for Blocks Recording Club‘s new, innovative DVD of shadow play and projection performance art.
Last year, Final Fantasy himself headlined the projectionists expo, but this year, they’re keeping it light with a couple djs and performances. Animal Monster and Data Stalker plan to keep partygoers dancing in the spot-light all night long, while Wodwos and Exploding Motor Car project some free jazz and psychedelics sounds on the night (check out their fun flip-book clips).
And if that’s not enough highlights for one party, wait for the one-time-only, exclusive performance from Exquisite Corpse. Exquisite Corpse is perhaps the only group of people to make an assembly line inefficient—the storyline of their act will be written, then drawn, and then projected and narrated one by one, on an “assembly line” of people (think Nuit Blanche–style art).
If you’re adventurous enough to give it a try, bring your shades, or flashlights, and head over to Keep Six Contemporary on Thursday. Cost is five bucks, and doors at 8 p.m.
