This week famed (and perhaps feared) Quill & Quire Review Editor Nathan Whitlock launches his first novel, A Week of This: a novel in seven days (ECW Press). On Wednesday evening Whitlock will be presenting a comic mock lecture at the Gladstone Hotel titled “Seven Steps to a Seven Day Novel.” Songs inspired by the novel will be performed by Alex Lukashevsky—whom Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene has called “one of the best songwriters Canada’s ever been blessed with.” Doors are at 7:00 p.m. for this free event.
Also of note this week, Anansi will be launching their spring poetry titles at The Anansi Poetry Bash on Thursday night. This free event at the slick and stunning LeVack Block kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and features the launch of Revolver by Kevin Connolly, The Sentinel by A.F. Moritz, and Chameleon Hours by Elise Partridge.
Fans of feminist theory will be sad to hear that Germaine Greer, author of The Female Eunuch and arguably one of the most important feminist writers and theorists around, broke her ankle and as a result has cancelled her North American tour. That means the Thursday evening launch of Greer’s Shakespeare’s Wife at St. Barnabas Anglican Church is no more. For refunds on tickets call 416-640-5861.
