It’s Canadian Music Week and that means there’s an unusually large number of hip hop shows going on. KRS-One will be teachin’ at The Opera House on Saturday as he continues his Stop the Violence movement. RZA dons his Bobby Digital mask on Sunday at the Phoenix. There’s also grimy New York hip-hop (M.O.P. on Friday), French rap (DJ Orgasmic and Cuizinier on Thursday), and a strong showcase of local talent (Friday’s Exclaim! event).
Also in town for CMW is former tea shop entrepreneur, Moby. The one-time Eminem foe will be giving a celebrity interview on Saturday afternoon. Like any good keynote speaker, he’ll be DJing the night before at This is London. While he’s been laying low the last few years, Moby’s new single Alice is pretty banging. Could be a good time.
With The Wire ending its five season run of excellence, now is a good time to give some love to the City of Baltimore. Devlin and Darko from BBC Soundsystem will be spinning Baltimore club this Sunday at Tattoo Rock Parlour. Warning: People on the dancefloor may be bodied. There’s a reason they call it Bodymore.
