Populist: March 3–9
We publish a lot of articles on Torontoist, and sometimes it’s hard to keep up. Populist is a weekly recap, appearing every Sunday night, that features some of the coolest, most interesting, most commented, and most recommended posts from our past week.

- Karen Whaley channelled Dave Bidini and slammed MuchMusic for sucking for, oh, a half-dozen years or so, give or take (this week’s most recommended post).
- David Topping featured a video of enterprising Kensington Marketers who made their own ski-hill, complete with one-foot-tall jump.
- Marc Lostracco wrote about Bob Hambly’s snappy design work for the New York Times, and unveiled two new buildings that should satisfy everyone’s tastes, whether you like things that glow or things that are ugly (the latter of the two this week’s most commented-on post).
- Todd Aalgaard covered the long-awaited unveiling of the Tooker, or something sorta like it.
- Miles Storey photographed the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty’s disruption of City Hall and the International Womens’ Day march along Yonge.
- Andrew Chin interviewed Boozy Suzy of the Pillow Fight League.
- Kevin Bracken featured a great Bourne series parody featuring Waldo that was shot in Toronto.
- Jaime Woo wants to save you some money. It couldn’t be easier!
- John Bebbe photographed the circus, where you can come for the spectacle and stay for the ambivalence.
- Kasandra Bracken and Cate Simpson covered Canadian Music Week this past week, with daily previews of shows each night and questionnaires with the bands playing ’em, from the New Pornographers to Sloan to Woodhands.
- In columns this week, there were new editions of Illustration Sunday (Spring Break!), Snappy Answers (more TTC stuff), Vandalist (someone named hecho, maybe?), The Great Torontoist Challenge (doubles), Campaign Confidential (things that are frustrating), Vintage Toronto Ads (GO’s Dial-a-Bus), Povertyville (disgusting TTC habits), and The Portrait Project (Stephen Eyes).
- Readers’ favourite photo of the past week (by recommends) was Thursday’s shot of Christ (or Kenny, from Kenny vs. Spenny?) carrying his cross along Yonge, by vtography.
