Populist: February 11–17
We publish a lot of articles on Torontoist, and sometimes it’s hard to keep up. Populist is a weekly recap, appearing every Sunday night, that features some of the coolest, most interesting, most commented, and most recommended posts from our past week.

- Jonathan Goldsbie got to the bottom of those strange Obay pharmaceutical ads: they’re ads for Colleges Ontario! (Probably!)
- On the heels of Todd Aalgaard and Miles Storey’s coverage of Anonymous’ Scientology protest, Robin Rix looked at the legality of the worldwide protests under Canadian hate laws. (This week’s most recommended post.)
- David Topping wrote about a benefit concert for John O’Keefe and his son Iain. The organizers are looking for someone to help them get some big headliners for the event, so if you’re the kind of person who has the Hip on speed dial, give ’em a shout.
- Marc Lostracco wrote about Toronto’s flatiron building making an appearance in a New York City condom ad. New York’s just jealous that we got ours up first.
- Val Dodge took a dig at CityNews’s intense team coverage of…the snow. (This week’s most commented-on post.)
- Jaime Woo’s warm, delicate fingers wrapped around the keys of the thick black keyboard and slowly, methodically pumped out an article about Toronto-based book company Harlequin.
- Maneesh Mohindra wrote about some fashionable CBC clothing that will not be available in the organization’s gift shop any time soon.
- Karen Whaley interviewed Jill Murray, and wrote about Rafael Fajardo’s socially-conscious games.
- Kevin Plummer wrote about the National Football League’s impending move of the Buffalo Bills to Toronto. It’s good news for people who like expensive sporting events and ironically named sports organizations.
- Readers’ favourite photo of the past week (by recommends) was a Valentine’s Day candid, by Taylor Zhou.
