Populist: December 31–January 6
We publish a lot of articles on Torontoist, and sometimes it’s hard to keep up. Populist is a weekly recap, appearing every Sunday night, that features some of the coolest, most interesting, most commented, and most recommended posts from our past week.

- Val Dodge discovered an adorable snow smiley face over the Overlea bridge (this week’s most recommended post); and wished a happy(ish) birthday to the Megacity, a project birthed by Mel Lastman and Mike Harris that, amazingly, doesn’t completely suck!
- Ken Hunt wrote about Chris Bosh’s awesome, awesome, awesome video campaign to make it to the All-Star game. All it needs is some Bosh attack ads from Kevin Garnett and we’ll totally be set.
- David Topping interviewed Joel Gibb of The Hidden Cameras.
- Sarah Nicole Prickett drummed up both support and hatred for the animal rights movement in a post about a Yorkville fur protest. (This week’s most commented-on article.)
- In columns, Rosemary Mosco featured the Kestrel in the latest edition of Wild Toronto,
David Fleischer wrote about Good Will Hunting in the latest edition of Reel Toronto, and Christopher Bird featured D-Ganz in the latest edition of Eat Me. Hopefully you liked them apples. - Readers’ favourite photo of the past week (by recommends) was Friday’s shot of the Toronto skyline over an ice-filled Lake Ontario, taken by Rock Paper Scissors Ink.
- And now that Heroes and Villains is over, don’t forget to vote for your Superhero and Supervillain! Voting takes place until midnight Thursday, and results are revealed on Saturday. We can’t tell you the results right now, but we can tell you that the Superhero race is much, much closer than the Supervillain one is.
