With self-check-in a success at airports around the country, Air Canada is preparing to implement a system that would see passengers check and tag their own luggage. Coming in 2009: who wants to learn how to fly a plane?
In spite of fears that we might not be as greedy as last year, yesterday stores were jammed with eager bargain hunters seeking shiny stuff. The crush is expected to continue through the rest of what’s now called Boxing Week, to be inevitably extended into Boxing Month, Boxing Decade, and the Boxing Millennium. Have a happy Boxing Life, everyone.
Finance Minister Jim Flaherty announced yesterday that Canadians shouldn’t expect any cuts in personal taxes in 2008, since an expected economic slowdown means the government will need all the money it can get. Unlike, say, individual taxpayers.
In hockey news, the Canadian Juniors beat hosts Czech Republic 3–0 as they looked for a 4-peat—or whatever sports people call four victories in a row—in the World Junior Hockey Championships.
