Populist: December 10–16
We publish a lot of articles on Torontoist, and sometimes it’s hard to keep up. Populist is a weekly recap, appearing every Sunday night, that features some of the coolest, most interesting, most commented, and most recommended posts from our past week.

- Sarah Nicole Prickett filled our weekly “awwww” quota by writing about adorable googly eyes on a downtown crosswalk.
- Marc Lostracco wrote about Rogers (surprise!) behaving badly, forcing its own advisory content on top of sites like Google.
- Jonathan Goldsbie checked out York Mills Station’s awful signage, including, amazingly, a misplaced wheelchair and elevator accessibility sign that leads not to an elevator but Canada’s longest escalators. Surprise, people with physical impediments!
- David Topping wrote about the sad death of Aqsa Parvez (this week’s most commented-on post), concluding that “our culture’s fetish for the other is making us all look ugly.” Proof: the comments section of the article.
- Robin Rix wrote about Regret The Error’s year-end list, which featured some excellent, excellent mistakes courtesy of the Star.
- Christopher Bird celebrated the downfall of Conrad Black (this week’s most recommended post).
- Rebecca Pardo looked at the inane holiday party advice offered up by the city’s major newspapers. Success is totally guaranteed if you drink only ice water, are single but not looking, and do not enjoy fun.
- Maneesh Mohindra looked back on the craziness over Canada’s (potential) new copyright laws that will do horrible, horrible things to you if you ever downloaded Madonna’s “Hung Up.”
- Readers’ favourite photo of the week (by recommends) was Monday’s shot of the flatiron building flanked by its surroundings, taken by SirCharlie.
