Grit MP Resigns, Budgets Showing Up, Leafs Get Asses Handed To Them
Liberals turf scandal-ridden MP. Blair Wilson (West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast) would just like everybody to know that he is very sorry that he impugned the Liberal Party’s name with his electoral spending mishaps, although not quite so sorry that he’s resigning as a member of Parliament.
City capital budget for next year unveiled. A large increase in necessary infrastructure spending is the highlight of the budget, which we still can’t pay for and which most voters don’t want to pay for at any level. Thankfully, the money will all be created by magic, and David Miller and Denzil Minnan-Wong will dance hand-in-hand through Dundas Square while a million daisies float down from the sky.
Expect tax cuts in this next budget. The budget surplus looks to be even higher than the expected $13.8 billion, so who better to spend your money than you, the taxpayer? Those Furbies and Vanilla Ice albums did not buy themselves, after all, and it’s not like we have a national debt to pay down or a desperately needed revamp of energy infrastructure or anything!
Loonie pushing towards modern record high. Jumping past $1.05 American, the lofty heights of a buck-six await, and monetary speculators wait in suspense to see if the Canadian or Australian dollar will break their respective record highs first. It’s like horse racing, except less interesting!
And the Leafs got thumped by the Washington Capitals 7–1.
