Five Years (In the Name of Love)

No word yet on whether that giant lemon will be making an appearance (Yonge and Dundas anyone?), or whether it will finally be revealed how one might actually dismantle an atomic bomb, but hundreds of U2 fans will be rattling and humming into Toronto for the fifth annual (!) inTO the Heart U2 Fan Festival, taking place from November 1 to 3.
With fans expected from New York, California, England, and even the Netherlands, inTO the Heart is shaping up to be a pretty big deal. So what can U2ers expect? On Friday, November 2, the Gladstone Hotel will host the U2 Songbook, where all your favourite tunes by Bono and the boys will be tweaked with everything from jazz to reggae to techno. This is followed by the U2 Fan Photo Exhibit, which is…pretty self-explanatory. But you can be a part of it! If you’ve taken any spectacular photos of the band in action, you can submit them here and see your work on the walls of the Gladstone. And if, after all that, you still haven’t found what you’re looking for, head over to Healey’s on November 3 for a set by Elevation, the internationally renowned U2 cover band.
Since this is a celebration not only of the music, but also of the spirit of U2, all proceeds will go to the African Well Fund, which helps build and maintain water projects in Africa. Admittedly, that’s pretty cool.
So if you feel like you’re stuck in a moment that you can’t get out of, head out to inTO the Heart. Red-tinted sunglasses are optional, but encouraged.
