Torontoist At The Crawl

Despite the less-than-ideal weather this weekend, the Queen West Art Crawl was a hit. Torontoist contributors Soloman Lam, Kevin McBride, Shari Kasman, and Miles Storey wandered the “Art and Design District” equipped with cameras, just in case you missed the action.

The Winking Circle‘s collection of artbikes in Trinity Bellwoods park were by far our favourite spectacle. “I’d like to see those bikes ambling down the streets on a daily basis,” says Shari Kasman.

“Another performance highlight was the Boychoir of Lesbos, performing a hallowed repertoire which included liturgical versions of Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” and R.E.M.’s “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine).”

Artist Jon Sasaki lit the Salvation Army Thrift Store at Queen and Lansdowne with black lights so that invisible lint, spills and stains would fluoresce. If watching CSI has taught us anything, it’s that sometimes those stains are better left unseen.
