Every weekday, we pick an image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It’s our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!
We are absolutely in love with this photo by ayndroid. The wisps of clouds curling towards the peak of the pile, defined streaks of shiny folded plastic, and deep blue hues give it a dreamy quality reminiscent of the Impressionist painting style of the Group of Seven. It particularly makes us think of Lawren S. Harris’ study of mountain forms.
The dwarfed stack reminds us that we’re not in the mountainous wilds of Canada, yet its earthy tones fit in very well with the scene—industry mixing with our natural landscape. We’ve yet to find that perfect balance, but we bet Harris never expected to be part of Imperial Oil Ltd.’s private collection.
