As you might have heard, Stephen King is set to make his first official public appearance in Canada. Ever. He’s showing up to receive a lifetime achievement award from the Canadian Booksellers Association on Friday June 8th, at 7:30 p.m., as part of Luminato and BOOKED!.
Fortunately for you King fans, we’ve scored some tickets (and some books) to give away, courtesy of Simon & Schuster Canada.
The grand prize is two tickets to the event, four Stephen King books (Everything’s Eventual, one of the stories of which, “1408,” will be the subject of a movie in theatres in July; Lisey’s Story, his newest hardcover; The Cell; On Writing, his semi-autobiographical book…on writing). For the grand prize winner, Simon & Schuster is throwing in Jeanette Walls’s Glass Castle and James Owen’s Here There be Dragons, as well as two tickets to each of their showcases at BOOKED!. Four runners-up will get the set of four Stephen King books (Everything’s Eventual, Lisey’s Story, The Cell, and On Writing). Torontoist is jealous!
To win, just enter your name, e-mail address, and mailing address below, as well as a one-sentence-long premise for a new Stephen King novel or short story. Keep in mind, this the man behind both The Shawshank Redemption AND The Shining AND “The Moving Finger” (a short story about an enormous growing murderous finger). Dude is diverse.
The contest ends at midnight on June 5th. The best (or worst?) plots win. The contest is now closed. Here are the winners!
UPDATE (June 3): James Owen just sent us an e-mail to let us know that he’s going to hand-draw something special inside Here There Be Dragons for the grand prize winner (he’s the writer and illustrator of his book).
