Live Baby Live – Week of May 10
Lots going on around town over the next little while. One of the city’s biggest music festivals, NXNE, held their press conference this week announcing the 2007 lineup (warning, the list is tough to read), hosted by Dave Foley. Many show dates and venues were announced, including the addition of the Dinosaur Jr., Voxtrot and The National shows as officially being part of the festival. Limited wristbands will be accepted at each show, so if you really want to go, you’re better off buying tickets.
Another recently announced festival is Track & Field, happening near Guelph at Tantramar Farm on June 2-3. The lineup looks promising, and can be found over at Stillepost. Remember on 90210 when Kelly and Steve had to purchase a special egg to get into a cool kid party? Well, same sort of concept applies here, except you need to buy a bandanna.
Best bests for this week…well, there are a ton of shows going on, so this is going to be tough. Everyone and their dog seem to be playing in the city tonight, including the legendary King of Blues, B.B. King, UK heavyweights Arctic Monkeys and questionable retiree, Patrick Wolf. Amy Winehouse brings her drunken self to the Mod Club on Saturday and Sunday, and next week all hail the Arcade Fire as they create some major buzz at Massey Hall. Too bad we’ve seen every single detail of their shows…where’s the surprise anymore?! Where? The Night Watchman, a.k.a. Tom Morello, hits the Horseshoe next Wednesday with some special guests, apparently. Not that it’ll happen in a million years, but how awesome would it be to see Rage at that venue?
