The Daily Photoist: Benchforms
Each weekday morning, we pick a recent image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It’s our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!

Another gorgeous day descended upon us yesterday and sent Torontonians to the streets and into parks. Tossed frisbees and bouncing soccer balls contended with lounging picnics on the grass and packed park benches in every direction. Trinity Bellwoods Park certainly could have used a few extra of the benchforms photographed by Bitpicture.
Perhaps we will begin to see a greater number of benches in our public spaces after the Globe and Mail finishes their six-part series that asks designers to redefine our streets. Suggestions from the first installment include creating boulevards out of our six-lane highways and installing tree-shaped umbrellas that allow dappled green light to filter through. Since we can’t seem to keep real trees alive for longer than 10 or 15 years in the city, the latter idea might not be the worst.
