The Daily Photoist: Window Washer
Each weekday morning, we pick a recent image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It’s our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!
Torontoist Flickr Pool contributor room929 is one of our favourite minimalist photographers and a master at composition. He’s photographed this building before to striking effect, but there is so much we love about this shot. It’s as if the window washer is painting a series of paintings on a wall of blank frames, with the warped reflection and dripping water breaking up the staid granite geometry. The human figure hangs like a spider; the only organic form in the shot, and in the most ideal location, compositionally. It’s a perfect capture of daily urban life!
