Tune of a Death

Earlier this week, we told you how you can be a part of a Ryerson student’s short film of a hundred couples making out. Today we bring you news of how you can contribute to another Ryerson student’s short film, also concerning making out&#8212as well as singing and dancing and going on a killing spree.
Tonight at the El Mocambo, filmmaker Claire Callway is holding I Love You To Death!, a fundraiser for her “homicidal musical” of the same name: “It’s about Julie (a sweet young girl who’s tired of the city hubbub), Roger (a serial killer), and the love they share.” Check out I Love You To Death‘s MySpace page for demo recordings of some of the songs (including the wonderfully catchy title number).
The fun gets underway at 8:30, with a set by the film’s composer and lyricist, Josh Penslar. Nolan Natasha (of Scandalnavia) and Max Galactic and the Cloud of Evil follow at 9:15 and 10:15, respectively. Clips from the movie and behind-the-scenes photos of its production will be projected on the walls, and appropriately bloody merchandise and art will be on sale.
It’s $5 to get in, and the doors open at 8:00.
