The Dog Days of Winter
The idea of dressing up dogs can be deeply divisive. Some people think it’s cute, others contend it’s traumatizing for the animal—and then there are those who think it’s just plain stupid. But anyone who’s had to carry a canine friend home after too much sidewalk salt has made for sore paws will tell you that dog boots are definitely not just a silly accessory. And no matter your view on dog getups, it’s hard to argue with raising money for canine cancer.
The proceeds from Fashion Frenzy for our Furry Friends, happening this Wednesday the 28th at Ultra Supper Club (314 Queen West), will go to canine cancer research at the University of Guelph through The Smiling Blue Skies Cancer Fund. For $20, you’ll be treated to an hors d’oeuvre and wine reception, music and dance performances, a silent auction and the main event: the fashion show. Both canine and human models, including former Designer Guys Steven Sabados and Chris Hyndman and CityNews at Six‘s Anne Mroczkowski, will take to the catwalk (dogwalk?) in outfits by Versace, Jeanne Lottie, Vivian George and others. The event, hosted by Tanya Kim of eTalk and comedian Maggie Cassella, gets underway at 8 p.m. Surround yourself with cuteness and do your good deed for the day at the same time by calling (416) 366-PAWS for ticket information.
