Each weekday morning, we pick a recent image from the Torontoist Flickr Pool and feature it here on the site. It’s our way to give the many excellent photographers in our pool the attention they deserve!
Is the crazy spiderweb of overhead streetcar wires a unique feature of our fair city? We started thinking about the wires while looking at this photo by Toronto photographer inventor_77 (Jeremy K). This is actually the corner of Dundas and McCaul (looking north-east), and not, as we first though, the corner of Queen and Spadina, looking south-east from the McDonalds toward the Lettieri. Man those two corners look similar.
Anyway, back to those subway wires. There certainly are a lot of them downtown. In this photo, we love the way the wires frame the sky, and are mirrored on the road by the tracks themselves. And the colours are great, and the distortions of the wide-angle lens are pretty cool as well.
