New Hours For The Toronto Public Libraries

2007_01_08lhs.jpgIn an effort to provide better service to its customers, the Toronto Public Library has changed the hours of operation for most of its 99 branches. The new hours, which can be found on the TPL website, are effective as of today. Most of the larger branches are now open at 9AM, while some community branches have had a significant change in the hours they are open, so be sure to check the new hours before heading out to your local branch.
This is the first phase in the TPL’s long term vision of being open more to the public. Possible future changes may include staying open until midnight from Monday to Thursday and extending Friday hours to 8:30PM. The Malvern Branch is the first to be open on Sundays for all twelve months, instead of being closed for July and August. The library is asking for feedback from its customers, which you can give either at your local branch or online.
Also, tickets are now on sale for the annual Book Lover’s Ball. It takes place on Thursday, February 15th, and all proceeds will go to help developing the collections and services of the TPL. In return, you will get the chance to dine with a Celebrity Author and have Margaret Atwood sign something with LongPen. Be prepared to open up your wallet, though, as tickets are $350 for the dinner.
