Live Baby Live – Week of Dec. 18
The year is winding down and so is the music, which is kind of nice, actually, because there seem to be a lot of tours already gearing up for 2007. Hopefully Alexisonfire isn’t one of them…we have no idea how they can manage to go onstage and scream for 7 solid days (they have a few more shows this week). Insanity.
Best bets for this week include Royal Wood tonight at the Cameron House (around 10:30pm…still time to go!). He’s wrapping up his weekly Dead Daisy evenings for the year, so if you haven’t caught him yet, you really should. His voice and piano fill the front room of the Cameron so beautifully, it makes your heart swell (besides, he’s very pretty to look at). On Wednesday night, check out Lupe Fiasco with Shad K. and other guests at The Phoenix. If you’ve never heard Shad, the guy can freestyle like no other. Even if you’re not into the hip hop scene, Shad will blow you away. And Neverending White Lights have a 3-night stint at The Drake starting on Thursday. Best bang for your buck will be on Friday when Patrick Watson opens. Watson is an up-and-comer from Montreal and seems to be going places fast, so it may be best to catch him (solo) at this intimate venue.
