Okay Adbusters, we get that it’s Buy Nothing Day, but what’s the harm in supporting some local designers and craftistas who make their own merchandise from the comfort of their hip Cabbagetown apartments?
This evening from 7-10 PM, Six Shooter Gallery is hosting the launch of Twitch Design’s winter line. Designer Sarah Doucet isn’t just sister to alt-country rocker Luke Doucet, but a jewelry maven whose creations are best described as “handcrafted art pieces-de-resistance”. And for the Tyra wannabe in us all, there will be a photobooth onsite for guests to model the jewelry.
Six Shooter Gallery is located at 1118 Queen St. E.
Saturday is the indie craft scene’s third annual Crafternoon Tea. Organized by self-proclaimed “Chief Glamazon” and DIY enthusiast, Nathalie-Roze, the event features handmade clothing, accessories, gifts and sweets for those on a tight Christmas budget: nothing is over $75. Admission is by donation of canned goods, art supplies, or $2 for the Woodgreen Community Centre’s gift and food drive.
Check it out: a tiger getting it on with a zebra in a clear, vegan bar of soap. Yeah, we giggled too. Thanks Soap Scum.
Crafternoon Tea will be held from 10 AM – 6 PM at the Queen East Presbyterian Church in Leslieville, located at 947 Queen St. E (Carlaw & Queen).
