Torontoist Traveller: The Oktoberfest Edition
While Toronto may the grandest of all cities, it cannot compare to Kitchener-Waterloo for annual large-scale beer and schnitzel-infused mayhem. Bier steins! Saurkraut! Onkel Hans! Lederhosen! Oompah bands! Bosoms barely contained by dirndles! Oh Glorious Bavaria!
The K-W has fifteen Festhallen, which are open to the public for a small entrance fee and boast rowdy polkas and delicious sausage. You already missed Rocktoberfest with Sloan, but let’s face it: if you live in Toronto, you’ve already seen Sloan play for free at least twice before.
Greyhound runs Toronto —> Kitchener buses every 30 mins or so during the afternoon (don’t even try Toronto —> Waterloo…apparently Kitchener is the big bus hub)
