Design Daytripper: Mysterious letters from Cat Cat

There’s a series of posters along Queen Street, near Spadina, that are best described as a non-digital blog. Every morning at 5:30 am, someone named Cat Cat affixes a carefully hand-rendered poster to a parking metre or light post. There’s a new one each day, and they’re always different. Some entries even refer back to a previous day’s poster.
The text itself is a random mash of rants of conspiracy about Fantino, the Mayor, McGuinty, evacuating Ottawa, concerns about “them” who are out to get “me.” Torontoist confesses we have no idea what Cat Cat is talking about. One poster from a few days ago read:
Why did Fantino say that he did not tell them that? And that the Columbians are making that up? Perhaps because after meeting with headquarters, he was convinced that “some night” they would do as they planned. (“Some night” — the happy mayor knows this.) Fantino knows that he can retract anything he said before court date, or in court. This is done all the time.
Someone’s random ramblings wouldn’t normally make for a Design Daytripper post except that these posters are quite beautiful. They’re very carefully rendered in marker, with special attention paid to the lettering and proportions. Typos are fixed by applying small squares of paper over the error. Each poster is also illustrated with a seasonal graphic, such as pumpkins, and signed and dated with the time.
We first started noticing the posters a couple of months ago, but we’re still not sure what they’re all about. Can any Torontoist readers help to clue us in? Let us know in the comments.
