TIFF 2006: Blog Roundup Day 6

2006_9_14dixie.jpgWe start today’s late roundup with the Dixie Chicks or the Dixie Chicks documentary to be exact. GreenCine daily goes on at length about Shut Up and Sing, the doc about the backlash the country trio faced after making anti-Bush comments.
And we can’t seem to shake Borat. Time’s Richard Corliss seems to have fallen under the Kazakh’s spell and gushes about the film. The Hollywood Reporter blog points out that Borat doesn’t actually speak Kazakh in the film but Hebrew. Can anyone confirm this? Our Hebrew is a touch rusty.
Shortbus director John Cameron Mitchell isn’t just a courageous filmmaker; from this story he’s also a little matchmaker and a swell guy.
Which brings us to one interesting observation, we thought that Craigslist would be full of TIFF related Missed Connections. But so far there hasn’t been anything particularly juicy? Are all you filmgoers just too busy plotting where you’re going to sit and looking at your fest programme books to flirt with that cute guy or girl next to you? Sheesh!
