Wanted Candidates For Council, Council Wants A Raise, Thieves At Pearson

2006_7_19council.jpgThe Coalition for Municipal Change, a citizens group that rallied together to unseat Anne Johnston and elect Karen Stintz in her place, is scouring the city for candidates to take down Kyle Rae and Howard Moscoe. We’ve expressed our dislike of these two councillors before. Particularly Moscoe, whose incompetence at the head of the TTC has caused numerous debacles. But if the replacement is another Karen Stintz clone we hope that the Coalition falls flat on its face. In this case we’re better off with the devil we know.
The TTC committee will try to take down Howard Moscoe, again. They think they have three votes locked up and possible a fourth but getting that much needed fifth vote is going to be tough, if not impossible.
We promise this is the last news item about Howard Moscoe. But Howard seems to be adamant about giving himself and his 44 other buddies a pay raise. The vote is going to council and its backed by the policy and finance committee. Moscoe tried to push through a stealth raise a couple of months back but a couple of councillors finally caught on and forced him to withdraw the motion. While we agree that councillors should be paid fairly we also want to point out that it’s these same councillors who cry poor when we need new parks, housing or infrastructure developments. Giving themselves a raise, even for the sake of “fairness”, just sends the wrong message.
The Star finally gets around to profiling famous cabbie Mohammad Saaed Collins, or Mr. Geography. The cabbie is best known for offering free rides if his fare can stump him on geography questions.
We missed this a couple of days ago, Joe Fiorito laments about CityTV weather guy Harold Hosein who was fired a couple of short months ago.
Finally while Harold stole our meteorological hearts, these lowlifes are preying on people at the airport. Jerks.
