Man Shot at Dundas and Church, City Blocks Angels Graduation, Ewww, What’s That Smell?

Police are on the hunt for two men who allegedly shot a man dead in a second-floor apartment at Church and Dundas last night. They believe that security footage from nearby Ryerson campus may also hold some leads.
The shooting of a woman outside an Etobicoke sports bar a couple of days ago gets weirder. Turns out police think that the murderer was lying in wait for her and also that the gun used had been traced back to Georgia.
2006_7_12angels.jpgSecurity in a Toronto Community Housing Building refused Guardian Angels entry into the building for a graduation ceremony they were trying to hold. They had been invited by residents who felt that the area was plagued by drugs, crime and prostitution. The Angels instead moved to nearby Allan Gardens. We think the city did them a favour. If they want to patrol the streets so much holding their graduations outside is a good place to start.
Jane Jacob’s house is up for sale and it has people wondering whether the city or a private foundation should pony up the $850,000 asking price to use the house as a centre, or a historical site.
More condos to go up near the waterfront. This time it’s a bunch of tall towers near the ACC which are all but a done deal. We’re hoping council manages to get things right and forces the developers to build public amenities that actually helps the area and not just creates condo ghettoes.
Finally bad smells in the financial district has area businesses wondering what the heck is going on? We could make smart ass comments here, but we’ll leave that to you dear commenters.
