2nd Annual Ladies of Urban Sound Against Rape
It takes a really good cause to get more than nine of Toronto’s busiest women of hip hop together on one stage in the same night. Tonight is that night, the Rivoli holds that stage, and the good cause is a benefit for the Toronto Rape Crisis Centre, as Vanilla Queen Entertainment presents the second annual Ladies Of Urban Sound Against Rape.
Providing the emcee/vocalist versatile microphone fireworks are Belladonna, Kaysun, Latté D. Kyd, Lola, Shankhini and Van Khanh. Toronto’s b-girl crew, shebang! wow with authentic and eye-popping moves. DJ Dalia holds down the 1s and 2s, and the whole, er… shebang is hosted by Jennifer Hollett.
Since 1974, the volunteer-run the Toronto Rape Crisis Centre has been connecting women with the support and resources they need to heal and gain control of their lives in the wake of rape and abuse. Their services include a 24 hour crisis line, face to face counseling, support groups and advocacy within the legal system and other institutions.
Tonight’s show starts 9:30 pm sharp. Tickets are $15 now $10! at the door with all proceeds going to Toronto Rape Crisis Centre/ Multicultural Women Against Rape.
