Halpern v. Canada Turns Three!

Horray Hetero Homo Hymeneal Hookings
This Saturday marks the third anniversary of the historic Ontario Court of Appeal verdict on same-sex/equal marriage. The ruling ordered the province to issue marriage licences to same-sex couples in Ontario immediately, as well as paved the way for equal marriage from coast to coast to coast to the American Border.
To celebrate, Canadians For Equal Marriage is hosting an anniversary reception with some delicious wedding cake. This is taking place at the Toronto City Hall main floor rotunda: Friday, June 9th at noon. Come on over during your lunch break!
Interestingly enough, this is the leather anniversary.
This, of course, comes right on the heels of Prime Minister Harper’s announcement that the fight against equal marriage is not over. Just a few days ago, the Harpster announced that yet another Commons vote on equal marriage will take place in the fall. Meanwhile, Torontoist has been watching diligently, and has yet to see the fabric of society fray even slightly this past triennial.

And another Mazal Tov to our Brokeback Mounties. Oh and I can’t forget a little hello our wonky neighbours to the south.
