Damn You Dundas Square
Torontoist lowered its guns on Dundas Square when we heard about Transmedia’s 29:59 project that has video art taking over one of the video billboards in the square.
We found out from Paved.ca that last month Clearchannel pulled work by artist Myfanwy Ashmore fearing legal action. Ashmore’s work uses hacked screen shots from the original Super Mario Bros.
What’s even worse, we found out that work by Brenda Goldstein, one of April’s pieces is also pulled. To quote a comment from the nowpublic blog:
The reason? ClearChannel doesnt approve that you can see a “competitors” video billboard accross the street and a Bank of Montreal logo.
Yep, Dundas Square it’s a public square until an advertising company doesn’t like what you’re doing.
