Thursday Music Roundup: Ponies, French Pop and Destroyer!

Toronto synth-punk band Pony Da Look starts up this Thursday Music Roundup. PDL, which up until recently had been on a break, are back in force. They’re doing two shows, one tonight with Kiss Me Deadly and Pyramid Culture at Sneaky Dee’s ($8 bucks) and tommorow as part of Lederhosen Lucil’s EP and Zine launch (pictured here).
Also tommorow is Blues/Folk legend Odetta which everyone from Zoilus to Now seems to be into. 32 bucks at Hugh’s Room. She’s also got a second show on Saturday night.
But if you go to that you won’t be able to go to Zoi Zoi, DJ Mimi’s uber tres popular French Pop dance party at the Boat. If you can’t get into that (and you won’t if you show up late!). Head to the CD release party for The Coast at the El Mocambo ($10 with a delightful CD). Paige’s favourite band will be opening so you all have to go. Besides Spitfires and Mayflowers know how to throw a dance party as well as anyone out there.
In all of this dance party anticipation we almost forgot to plug Exclaim! cover boy Destroyer’s show with Magnolia Electric Co at Lee’s Palace $13.50. All and all, not a bad weekend.
