International Women’s Day

Although this past Wednesday was officially International Women’s Day, the city will be celebrating it in style this Saturday (presumably to cash in on the sunny weather).
The International Women’s Day rally begins at 11 am at the OISE building, 252 Bloor W. and will include music, speakers and entertainment. The march itself, beginning at 1pm, is being led by UNITE HERE Hotel Worker’s Rising (T.Oist posted about their feminist rally earlier this week. We went and all we have to say is ‘word’ to a most moving and thought-provoking conference, ladies).
Festivities continue with the Women’s Day Fair is at 3pm, held at the Ryerson’s Student Centre, Church and Gould St.
Don’t want the party to stop? Join The Working Women’s Community Centre who will be celebrating IWD and their 30th anniversary with food and festivities, March 11, 9:30am-12:30pm, 533 Gladstone Ave.
And if social justice and queer Yiddish bands are more your thing, Pomegranate, the “tuchas-shaking” all-girl Klezmer band will be preforming March 11 at 8pm at the The Winchevsky Centre, 585 Cranbrooke Ave.
