Baseball Fever On Bloor?

2006_3_16korean.jpgDuring the World Cup huge parts of the city were paralyzed by fans celebrating victories. We’re wondering whether similar things will be happening because of the World Baseball Classic? Cuba and the Dominican Republic are already in the semis at the WBC. Torontoist wants to know whether
members of this city’s Cuban or Dominican population will be congregating anywhere in the event of a victory?
The wildcard is Korea. The Korean team are the only undefeated team at the tournament and eeked out a win over East Asian rivals Japan 2-1. We’re still not sure whether the city’s many Koreans will be clogging up Koreatown if they win though. It might just be too cold, or maybe baseball just doesn’t have the same cachet among rabid Korean sports fans. We’ll find out Saturday, Mar. 18 (10pm ET, on Sportsnet) when the Koreans will be playing either the US or Mexico in their semifinal game.
