More Transit Art
A few reasons why you should check out In Transit, opening tonight at the Toronto Free Gallery (660 Queen St. E.)
1) More TTC love
Despite jacking up the fares and crumbling infrastructure, the TTC needs more love than ever. Boy Reporter has lived in a city where the transit workers went on strike for three months and the buses stop running after 2:00AM so he appreciates the fact that the TTC hasn’t done either of these things!
2) More photobloggage
Or as curator Matt Blackett calls it, photobloggery, the exhibit is a who’s who of the Toronto photoblogging community. It even includes Torontoist contributor Rannie Turingan!
4) East side love
Sure, the folks at Spacing could’ve found a west-side gallery to host this show and confirm the fact that they’re “blatant east-side haters” but if there’s a gallery that’s been supportive of the recent renaissance of civic celebration the Toronto Free Gallery has to be it.
3) Howard Moscoe?
The smarmy head of the TTC and mayoral candidate Jane Pitfield-hater was at the TPSC’s “What the TTC Could Be” exhibit earlier this month. So who knows maybe Howard will grace us with his presence? He might even wear a silly hat or dress up as an easter bunny.
