Recipes: Holiday Mexicano
Who knew the traditional Mexican hat known as the sombrero is also the model for an easy-to-make and delicious holiday dessert? The sombrero – which, by the way, has meaning beyond the headwear aspects – lends structure to this tasty after-dinner treat. Check this out:
– 12 doughnuts, the kind with the holes in the middle (no cruellers)
– Tub of ice cream, any flavour
– Chocolate syrup, sombrero cocktail, sprinkles, other like toppings
1. Place doughnut in the middle of a medium-sized plate. Decorate doughnut with chocolate sauce and toppings in a fashion that best resembles the Mexican sky-piece.
2. Add two scoops of ice cream, piled on top of each other, in the exact middle of the doughnut. Make sure dish looks similar to a sombrero (doughnut as brim, ice cream scoops as headspace). Garnish with toppings. Serve immediately.
