Ist List: Chilled Out Romance
As the temperature makes its inexorable descent downward, Torontonians tend to pair off to keep each other warm all winter. Torontoist only wishes to offer chilly lovebirds all the help we can, so in honour of the pre-winter chill that’s been promised us this week, we’re Listing our five favourite spots to bring those special someones in out of the cold.
First up is the ROM. Austere enough that you’ll appear appealingly intellectual, and yet soaked in nostalgia for a thousand elementary school field trips, the ROM is an ideal place to walk the irresistible line between sophisticated and goofy. Most importantly, there are plenty of nooks and crannies perfect for making out (the school field trips clear out by 3, and then the Bat Cave is all yours), and the dinosaurs are just scary enough to require hand-holding. And for the romantic-but-thrifty, the museum is free after 4:30 pm on Fridays, when there’s generally live music or some nifty themed event going on.
