“You’ve got to be on offence against crime, not just defence,” said former Gotham mayor Rudolph Giuliani on Monday. “If you do those two things, you can reduce crime anywhere.”
And not just anywhere; but in our city. Mr Zero Tolerance himself directed these comments toward Canadian politicians on the subject of gangs in Canada. His ideas, ostensibly made in reference to Toronto’s gun problems, were to clamp down on all crime/gang activity – no matter how trivial it may appear. Perhaps this autocratic style be applied to the current police situation – forcing our police friends to end job action. Or more likely, Giuliani would stick close to the opinions of Gary Roberts and support the police. Either way, it probably wouldn’t work here.
