While Cinq-A-Sept is the traditional cocktail hour, Huit-a-Onze is all too often the time dedicated to “running out the door to check if the liquor store is still open.”
Torontoist knows what it’s like to arrive at The Beer Store just as the neon ‘OPEN’ sign turns off. We’ve done the late evening drive around the city, and gotten to know 411 operators on a first-name basis while pleading for as many Le CeeBO addresses as possible.
And this is why we’re nominating Beer Hunter.ca as both the most incredible thing to happen to Toronto and the best use of Google maps. Ever.
Beer Hunter points out the location of every LCBO, Beer Store, Wine Rack, and Independent brewery in Toronto. It also welcomes you with a notification of the city’s liquor status: “It’s currently 5:25pm on Tuesday in Toronto. There are 161 places you can get booze right now.”
As stores close, their icons become transparent but the operating hours are still posted. A reminder which is much easier to look at than the smug “we’re closed” smile that employees give through LCBO windows at 10:01pm.
