Allison’s Out on the Town Antics
Since before last summer, Jason Allison has been the Toronto Maple Leaf most likely to be spotted drinking and smoking at the Firkin establishment in Rosedale. Early in the season, it appears as though this behaviour may have had an effect on the newly-aquired Leaf centre, as his meagre performance is the worst of all of our off-season pickups. And now, the trade rumours have commenced. 
Of course, the relationship between Allison frequenting a generic local pub and his less-than-stellar performance thus far is purely speculative – though his conditioning and play-making should be scrutinized as such. The last time a Leaf was regularly spotted out on the town, it was Shayne Corson and it was an embarrassment.
In exchange for Allison, The Maple Laughs are apparantly in search of a strong defenseman, with the names Janne Niinimaa and Brendan Witt being tossed around. What might be better in the long run, however, is to ship our barfly centre out with our adventursome goalie, in a package deal that would guarantee the Leafs a goal-tender for at least the playoffs. Fair play?
