Sure, there are a thousand other things demanding your attention this evening, but how many of them are free and will only take up an hour of your time before you hit the club/gallery/spooktacular house party? The comic store The Beguiling (which just got a nod from NOW as the best in the city) is holding two impromptu signings this weekend featuring Charles Burns, Chip Kidd, and Chris Ware.
Tonight is your chance to meet-and-greet Burns, whose new graphic novel Black Hole has just been released, and Kidd, who has designed probably a third of the dust-jackets of the books sitting on your shelf. They’ll be at The Beguiling from 8pm.
Then tommorow evening, the somewhat-reclusive creator of the acclaimed Jimmy Corrigan: Smartest Boy On Earth graphic novel, Chris Ware, will be signing from 8pm until 9pm in support of his new book Acme Novelty Library.
All of these creative folks are in town for their IFOA appearance Saturday Afternoon, but if you haven’t got the dough to attend (or will be at one of this weekend’s other attractions), these free store signings are your chance to meet and greet some of the medium’s best and most popular creators in an intimate space.
The Beguiling is located at 601 Markham Street, which is just around the corner from Honest Ed’s. Visit www.beguiling.com for more info.
