There’s a breeze in the air, and a million things to do before winter wraps its claws around you. Get out there!
– Shock and awk at the El Mo tonight, as unfunnyfunnyman Neil Hamburger takes the stage. 9pm and ten bucks.
– South African hip hop phenom Tumi and the Volume make a double stop in Toronto. They poetry slam tonight, and play Harbourfront’s Culture Shock fest for free on the morrow. They say: “When we came the first time, I said something to the crowd that I kind of regretted; I said don’t come if you think this is a charity thing, like let’s help these African musicians…Now it’s changed a little – Do come, check it out…if Kanye West is how you get to understanding what’s happening in Sierra Leone, that’s cool. If we help people get over that dark continent gimmick, that’s cool too.”
– The Planet in Focus Fest is still on. A gazillion films and an organic pancake breakfast. You could go to a different pancake breakfast in this town every week!
– TOist loves a good walking tour. Since there are no walking tours about the new math, we’ll settle for one about the new Toronto. New Toronto: A 19th Century Industrial Suburb takes place on Saturday, at 1:30pm. Free.
– A particularly nice one.
